After yet another horrible start, that included two first half goals, the U.S. somehow managed to battle back in the second half of the game, scoring two goals and stealing away Slovenia’s momentum. Landon Donovan fueled this comeback by scoring the first goal for the U.S. on an improbable kick from the right side of the goal (check out the picture below) and in the 82nd minute of the match Michael Bradley scored the equalizer and it seemed like the U.S may actually be able to pull off a comeback victory. As 90th minute approached, the winning shot came of the toe of Maurice Edu after a free kick. However, the goal was surprisingly disallowed by Malian referee Koman Coulibaly. At first it appeared that he called Michael Bradley offside even though Bradley was being bear-hugged from behind by a Slovenian defender, but it was later announced that Edu committed an unspecified foul. Check out the video below and judge for yourself. It surely seems as if the U.S. was robbed of a victory, yet they are lucky enough to have ended the game in a draw. Thankfully, the U.S. still has a good chance of advancing to the next as long they can beat Algeria in their final group match
